DEMOKRITOS
Demokritos explores the intersection of artificial intelligence and computer graphics, aiming to develop a comprehensive corpus of shaders that serves as a foundation for generating innovative and dynamic real-time graphics.
By curating a diverse collection of shaders, Demokritos strives to create a powerful resource for computer graphics development—where existing techniques inspire and drive the creation of cutting-edge visual effects.
The name "Demokritos" means "chosen by the people," highlighting the collaborative effort behind our training corpus and the active evaluation by our community. Moreover, Demokritos was a brilliant pre-Socratic philosopher, a contemporary of Socrates, who wrote about vision, light, and geometry—among many other subjects. He proposed that everything is composed of atoms, and that what is not an atom is void. According to him, by nature nothing has inherent color; both matter and void lack qualities. It is only through their arrangement, structure, and dynamic interaction—order, form, and position—that compounds acquire color and meaning.
